In 1929, John MacCready, a senior U.S. Air Force official, asked Bausch & Lomb to make a pair of sunglasses for the U.S. pilots to reduce the stimuli caused by the intense blue of the sky that distracted them. In 1936 the prototype was made, in 1938 the lenses were upgraded, and later the specific design was trademarked as "Ray-Ban Aviator". In 1952 Ray-Ban built the Wayfarer with the typical G-15 lenses being launched a year later. The brand is now owned by the Luxottica Group.
Polaroid is a company created in 1937 at Massachusetts and created the first polarized sunglasses in the whole weird. Because of the polarized filters, their sunglasses were mainly used by the pilots of the American Air Forces, to be protected from the harmful sunlight. Polaroid is also known for other products too such as cameras and printers.
